FAIR VALUE REPORTS

Stock fair value reports: is the price right?

A fair value report answers one question about one stock: is it overvalued or undervalued right now, and why. FPI publishes one on each of the 100 most followed US-listed stocks within a week of its quarterly results - several a day in earnings season, one a day between. Every report puts the FPI fair value against the share price and against Wall Street price targets, and shows the numbers behind the gap. Facts and figures only, no quotes. The weekly market report covers the whole market every Saturday.

BAC · BANK OF AMERICA · OCT 17, 2026

Who is right about Bank of America at $51: Wall Street's $67 or the model's $36?

The share price sits almost exactly halfway between a $67 Street median and a $36.18 model value. The quarter to September 2026 shows why: the $1.2 billion fine was a one-off, the squeeze on the buyback is not.

C · CITIGROUP · OCT 17, 2026

Is Citi at $124 a bargain, or did the market just spot the 2028 catch?

Two earnings beats, two 5% drops. The model says $137, Wall Street $151, and two banks just cut to $135. The gap comes down to one return figure - and a capital target the headlines skip.

UNH · UNITEDHEALTH · OCT 17, 2026

UnitedHealth beat by 55 cents. Why did three banks cut their targets anyway?

Adjusted EPS of $4.69 crushed the $4.14 consensus and the 2026 floor rose to $20.50 - yet targets fell. The model says $460, 14.6% above the price. The catch is where 53 of those 55 cents came from.

JNJ · JOHNSON & JOHNSON · OCT 17, 2026

Is Johnson & Johnson cheap at 38 times earnings?

A beat, a guidance raise and the end of the talc saga - yet the stock lost 5.7% in a day and now trades at 38 times earnings. The model calls it fairly priced; Wall Street sees 11% more. The difference is all about 2027.

JPM · JPMORGAN · OCT 17, 2026

JPMorgan stopped buying its own shares at $342. The model says they are worth $434

Buybacks fell 87% in the quarter to September 2026 while the FPI fair value sits 27.9% above the price and even above the highest Street target. Who is right - the bank that will not pay $342, or the model that sees $434?

HOW TO READ A FAIR VALUE REPORT

What is the FPI fair value?

An independent estimate of what a share is worth today, blending a discounted cash flow model (50%), relative valuation against sector peers (30%) and analyst consensus (20%). It is recalculated daily. A stock more than 10% above the number is overvalued, more than 10% below is undervalued.

What does Street vs model mean?

Wall Street's consensus rating and price targets set against the FPI fair value, with the gap in percent and the most likely reason for it. Analysts usually price the next 12 months; the model prices the cash flows of the whole business.

When does a stock get a report?

Within five trading days of its quarterly results, with the actual figures against estimates, the new guidance and what changed in the fair value. Every covered stock gets at least one report per quarter.
